Apparently (as of yesterday), jockey Calvin Borel, who rode Mine That Bird to win the Derby, has left to jockey filly Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness. This is pretty much unprecedented, and it'll be interesting to see if his choice works in his favour.

Thoughts?

I personally would kind of like to see Mine That Bird win--it's a different kind of fun to root for the underdog--but at the same time the quasi-feminist part of me wants to see the filly win. And Rachel Alexandra is incredible all on her own, gender notwithstanding. Now that the ownership's changed, it seems it's thrown a bit of a wrench into things, as it were.
